Teenage girl abducted
: A teenage girl was allegedly abducted by Chander Pal and his father Atvari Ram of Allahabad for marriage. According to the police sources, Roop Lal, son of Lahori Ram of Allahabad, alleged that Chander Pal and his father have abducted his teenage daughter for marrying her to Chander Pal. Sadar police has arrested Chander Pal and his father Atvari Ram under Sections 363, 366-A and 120-B of the IPC.

One held for embezzlement: The police has booked Manoj Kumar of Rama Mandi under Sections 406 and 408 of the IPC for embezzling Rs 8 lakh of company where he was working as a manager. The police said Manoj Kumar was working as a manager with a local Airtel prepaid distributor. The owner of the dealership Dev Raj Sharma, son of Chanan Ram of Jandu Singha alleged that Manoj Kumar embezzled Rs 8 lakh of the company.

6 held with drugs: The district police has arrested six persons and seized intoxicated powder from them. The police has arrested Jora Singh of Nausherhra and seized 190 gram intoxicated powder from him. Mahilpur police has arrested Harbhajan Lal of Kitna and seized 280 gram intoxicated powder from him. Bulhowal police has arrested Bikramjit Singh and Mandeep Kumar of Tibba Sahib, Davinder Kumar Bohan and Rahul of Gokal Nagar and seized 53 gram intoxicated powder from them. All the accused were booked under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Patiala
Man dies in mishap:
Joginder Singh of Dhaintal village died after unidentified persons allegedly tried to break into his house. The door hit Singh’s head and he died on the spot. The Patiala police has registered a case under Sections 304-A of the IPC. Paramjeet Kaur, sister-in-law of the deceased, lodged the complaint.

Teachers’ assn elections held: In the elections to the Punjab State Medical and Dental Teachers’ Association, Patiala, Dr JPS Walia of Government Medical College, Patiala, was elected chairperson and Dr HS Sohal of Amritsar Medical College was elected vice chairperson. Dr BS Sohal of Patiala Medical College became the general secretary and Dr Shiv Charan of Amritsar College joint secretary. The general body demanded time bound promotions and pay parity with the PGI faculty.

Sangrur
Seven roads in Sangrur get nod
: The Central Government has sanctioned the construction of seven roads (covering 83.47 km) under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in Sangrur and Barnala districts. An amount of about Rs 50 crore will be spent on the roads. Vijay Inder Singla, Member of Parliament from Sangrur, said more road development proposals had been submitted to the Ministry of Rural Development.

Garga is training cell member
: Rajender Garga, BJP youth leader from the Ghumarwin constituency in this district, has been appointed member of the National Training Cell of the party. Garga, a former journalist, is presently a member of the BJP state executive committee. He was also in charge of the BJP’s state training cell here. He contested the last Assembly election from the Ghumarwin constituency on the BJP ticket.

Migrant labourer dies in mishap: Abdul Bareek (20), a labourer with a private contractor for laying tower lines in the Jabbal area, died when he slipped and a tower line wire fell on him at Kothi Batala village, 35 km from here, on Thursday. He was rushed to the Gasaud Primary Health Centre, where he was declared brought dead. The police registered a case. The victim hailed from Mohit Bathani village in Malda district of West Bengal.

Man arrested for kidnapping minor: Suneel Kumar of Rally Jajjri village of Hamirpur district was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl from Sundernagar two months ago. The police team was led by ASI Avtar Singh of the Bharaadi police station. Reports said the girl’s father, a resident of Dadhol Kalan, had registered an FIR in this case. The girl has been medically examined and the matter is under investigation.

Four booked for assault
: The police has booked four persons for beating up and injuring three persons in the Baded area of Bhattiyat sub-division of the district Thursday night. Pappu of Baded village had reported to the police that he was waylaid by four persons on the way. They attacked him up with sticks and sickles and inflicted injuries on him. He also complained that his mother and brother were also assaulted when they tried to rescue him. The police has registered a case.

Body found from manhole
: An unidentified body was found from a manhole under mysterious circumstances near the Himachal Pradesh State Education Board (HPBSE) office at Dharamsala yesterday. Sources said some youths standing near the board office noticed a stench coming from a manhole. They removed the lid of the manhole and found a body lying there.

KANGRA
Man succumbs to burn injuries
: Navdeep of ward No. 3 of Gaggal town, 8 km from here, who had suffered serious burn injuries on September 2 last and was under treatment at the Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College at Tanda succumbed to his burn injuries on Sunday. The police said Navdeep had received 54 per cent burn injuries when the stove caught fire while he was preparing food in his kitchen. The police has sent his body for the post-mortem and started investigation under Section 174, Criminal Procedure Code.

SUNDERNAGAR
Jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh, cash stolen: Thieves struck six jewellery shops in the main market and stole jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh and cash here on Tuesday. The police said it had called a team of forensic experts from Mandi to assist them. However, a few of the items, along with a cash box, were later found near National Highway No. 21. Jagdish Kanwar, SHO, said no arrest had been made in the case so far.
