TET-qualified candidates hold city to ransom

Manhunt on to nab hotel owner, raid info leaked
Ludhiana, September 8
The city police has launched a manhunt to nab Balwinder Singh Walia, owner of the Diamond Hotel, from where 36 young boys and girls belonging to the various fashion institutes and colleges, were arrested on September 6. The youngsters were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.

Now, purchasing vehicles will also be under the surveillance of the Income Tax Department. The department has directed the Motor Vehicles Department to make permanent account number (PAN) card mandatory for registration of new vehicles costing above Rs 5 lakh.

Sex ratio improves in Punjab

The sex ratio in Punjab has seen an improvement in the past 10 years. As per 2001 Census, there were 798 females against 1,000 males in the state. As per 2011 Census, Punjab has improved with a 48-point increase (846 females against 1,000 males).
