Leopard scare grips Morni village
Panchkula, July 23
A female leopard has been spotted with her two cubs at Chamka village in Morni, spreading a scare among residents. The residents are forced to stay indoors after the wild cat attacked pets of the villagers.

23 students taken ill after consuming iron tablets
Panchkula, July 23
Just a day after the much talked about 'Solid Bano India' campaign was launched by the health department, 23 students of two government schools were taken ill after popping iron pills. They were admitted to hospitals.
A total of 17 students, including 15 girls, of Government Senior Secondary School, Tikar Taal in
Morni, have been admitted to a hospital. Six cases have been reported from a government school at
Basola.

Teachers’ protest enters Day 2

Protest launched by the Joint Action Committee of UT Schoolteachers entered its second day today. They are protesting against the “dictatorial” attitude of the Education Department for suspending four teachers and lodging FIR against them. They shouted slogans against the officers of the Education Department while staging a demonstration near hotel Shivalik View, Sector 17, Chandigarh.

UT Admn told to form panel to implement RTE Act in city schools

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today asked the Chandigarh Administration to form a committee to look into the implementation of the Right to Education Act in city schools. The committee will comprise experts from the Central Board of School Examination, UT Education Department and renowned educationists from the city.

Entrance test for MPhil on August 6
Chandigarh: Panjab University (PU) has issued revised schedule for submitting applications for the MPhil (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies) course at the School of Punjabi Studies. Applications have been re-invited till August 2 in the office of Department of Punjabi on the prescribed proforma for the MPhil course.
