Rape victim assaulted
Ludhiana, July 5
A rape victim, who is a resident of Hawas village, was allegedly assaulted by her perpetrators this morning. The victim was on her way to an aanganwari where she works as a helper. She alleged that two of the rape accused, Gurmeet Singh and Gurdev Singh, along with their accomplices, attacked her with sharp-edged weapons.

Victim’s kin seek justice
Ludhiana, July 5
The kin of eight-year-old girl, who was kidnapped, raped, murdered and then dumped at a vacant plot in New Shakti Nagar near Jodhewal Basti, today visited Mini Secretariat to meet the Commissioner of Police seeking justice. However, they had to return disappointed as the Commissioner, PS Gill, was not in office.

Farmers get tips on group marketing
Ludhiana, July 5
The monthly training camp for the members of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Kisan Club was held under the chairmanship of the newly elected president of the club, Ajit Singh Aujla. A total of 250 farmers participated in the camp. Meanwhile, the monthly training camp for women's wing of the club was also held in which nearly 50 farm women participated. Highlighting the activities of the club, Dr TS Riar, coordinator of the club, gave useful tips to the farmers on group marketing with the focus on its significance.

Residents stage dharna
Irked residents of Civil Lines and surrounding area staged dharna against the opening of liquor vend on Dandi Swami Road. The dharna led to a heavy traffic jam. Long queues were visible on either side of the road. Soon ACP (West) Gurpreet Kaur Purewal and SHO, Division No. 8, Ranjit Singh also reached the spot and tried to pacify the crowd. It was after nearly an hour that the residents lifted the dharna.

The Division No. 7 police has booked one person for kidnapping a 17-year-old girl on the pretext of marrying her.

Three booked for stealing car in Dugri
Ludhiana, July 5
The Dugri police has booked three persons in a car theft case. The accused have been identified as Prabhjot Singh and Pama, both residents of Dholewal, and Jomesh of Model Town.
