Two unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched Rs 2.6 lakh from a man last evening. The incident took place near Billan Wali Chhapri, a locality in Khanna.

MGNREGA workers seek wage hike

A rally was organised by the Punjab Khet Mazdoor Sabha at the Mini-Secretariat here today. The workers said the minimum wages under the MGNREGA scheme should be increased to at least Rs 200 per day and the working hours should be eight hours. Minimum work for 15 days must be provided to the workers.

4 booked for immoral trafficking

With the arrest of four persons, including two women, the police has claimed to bust a flesh trade racket from Shivpuri area last light. The accused have been identified as Mutraki and Julie, both residents of Bank Colony, Parkash a resident of Bihar and Avinder Kumar a resident of Gahilawal. The police received a tip-off that Mutraki, who operates as a pimp, used to bring girls and involve them in flesh trading. Following the information, the police raided at the place last night and nabbed the accused persons. The accused have been booked under Immoral Trafficking Act. They were produced before the court and sent on remand.
Chaura Bazar jewellery theft solved, 2 UP natives held

Groups clash over petty issue; cop hurt

A major clash was averted when two sections of a community, carrying weapons, took positions against each other after a minor incident. Timely action by the police averted the situation from getting worse. Passers-by ran for life when both sections of the community started pelting one another with stones in the Peer Khanna area last night.
