CJI to visit PU campus in Bajwara:
Chief Justice of India (CJI) Altamas Kabir will attend a function at Panjab University’s regional campus in Bajwara on Sunday. Aimed to sensitise people about illegal immigration and fraudulent marriages involving NRIs, the function is being organised by the Punjab Legal Services Authority (PLSA) in association with the state commission for NRIs. Supreme Court judge and executive chairman of the National Legal Services Authority Justice DK Jain will preside over. Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice AK Sikri, who is patron-in-chief of the PLSA, will also participate.

Symposium:
A two-day international symposium on "One Health: Way Forward to Challenges in Food Safety and Zoonoses in 21st Century" and national conference of the Indian Association of Veterinary Public Health Specialists started today at School of Public Health and Zoonoses, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. National and international delegates attended the conference. 

Muktsar
One arrested with 20-kg poppy husk:
The CIA staff of Muktsar on Thursday claimed to have nabbed a narcotics smuggler and seized 20 kg of poppy husk from his possession. The accused has been identified as Karnail Singh, a resident of Shamkhera village. A case under various sections of the NDPS Act has been registered. 

Nawanshahr
Drug peddler held with poppy husk:
The police has arrested a drug peddler, Baljinder Singh of Soeta village, after seizing 35 kg of poppy husk from his possession. Deputy Superintendent of Police Satish Malhotra said the accused was arrested during a naka set up near Ranewal village. Seeing the police, the accused, who was riding a scooter, tried to flee but the police party overpowered him and recovered the poppy husk being carried in jute bags, he said. 

Phagwara
13 injured in car accidents:
Thirteen persons, including three women and five children, were injured in two separate accidents near Phagwara on Thursday. Seven occupants of a Nawanshahr-bound car were injured when it collided with another vehicle near Khalwara bypass on the Phagwara-Chandigarh road on Thursday. In another mishap, six persons were injured in a collision between two cars at Chiherru in Phagwara. The injured have been admitted to various hospitals.

Trials for cricket team on Dec 15:The Chandigarh Women Cricket Association is holding selection trials in Anchal International School, Sector 41, Chandigarh, at 11.30 am on December 15 to select Chandigarh Women Cricket team for the Late Chimanbhai Patel T-20 National Tournament at Ferozabad (UP). The tournament is starting from December 25.

HARYANA

Date extended:
Unrecognised schools that fail to fill in self-declaration forms will not be allowed to function in Haryana under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act. A spokesman of the Education Department said that the department had extended to December 31 the date for filling self-declaration forms for non-government schools. The forms can be filled on www.schooleducationharyana.gov.in .

A clarification: The state government today clarified that all IAS officers of the Haryana cadre, except four , have submitted their annual property returns.The four IAS officers, who were yet to submit their annual property returns were Sanjiv Kumar, Varinder Singh Kundu, Parveen Kumar and Rohtas Singh Kharb, a government spokesman said.
