Frequent VIP visits: Cops feel the heat

VIP visits to the city is not only troubling residents, but police officials are also feeling the pinch. In the latest incident, a police constable was asked to run a 400m lap on the synthetic track at Guru Nanak Stadium after he failed report on duty on time.

Aggarwal named leader of opposition in MC House

Hem Raj Aggarwal, Rakesh Prashar and Sushma Mehta along with Congress leaders at the DCC office in Ludhiana on Monday. After a gap of more than two months, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has finally got the leader of the opposition. Hem Raj Aggarwal has been named as the leader of the opposition, while Rakesh Prashar has been named as the senior deputy leader of the opposition and Sushma Mehta as the deputy leader of the opposition. The decision was taken by the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee in Chandigarh today.

Loudspeakers irk residents

The nuisance, created by the loudspeakers, blowing from religious places and that too at a high pitch, has been causing inconvenience to Sahnewal residents and forcing them to lodge complaints with the Nagar Panchayat, which has failed to provide any permanent solution to this ever increasing problem so far.

A fatal mishap can take place in narrow lanes on Rai Bahadur Road in Ludhiana. Apart from theft cases, there are a number of problems at Rai Bahadur Road. A fatal mishap can take place at the narrow lanes in the area. Highlighting the problems Sandeep Miglani said, "It is one of the oldest bazaars in the city so the roads here are narrow and it becomes difficult to commute on these," he said.

The starcast of ‘Saadi Gali Aaya Karo’ in Ludhiana on Monday. The starcast of upcoming Punjabi film "Saadi Gali Aaya Karo" was in the city today. The lead actors, Anuj Puri, Nav Bajwa and Zoya Afroz interacted with mediapersons. They said the movie was a romantic comedy. "Two boys, one Punjabi and the other Haryanavi, fall for the same girl. The movie is a blend of laughter, love and romance," said Anuj Puri and Nav Bajwa.

Art and craft exhibition
St Francis Convent School, Bhamian Kalan, held a two- day art and craft exhibition recently. The exhibition was organised by Chhavi and Helen with other student members of the Arts Club.
