IPS transfers: The government today transferred six IPS officers. Dinkar Gupta has been give the additional charge of Law & Order. Kuldeep Singh has been posted as IG, Community Policing & Training; RPS Brar as IG, Moderninsation; B Chander Sekhar as IG, Vigilance; Harpreet Singh Sidhu as IG, Crime; and Kaustubh Sharma as DCP, Amritsar, a spokesperson said.

: The Haryana Government has designated Varsha Khangwal (HCS), Joint Director (Admn), Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department, as First Appellate Authority under the Right to Information Act, 2005.

Fatehabad
Booked for seeking ransom: The police has booked Kala, a resident of Bathua village in Punjab, for demanding ransom from a doctor of Tohana town in Fatehabad. The SHO said the accused called the doctor and demanded Rs 5 lakh from him as ransom. The accused has allegedly threatened to kill the doctor if he failed to pay the ransom.

Teachers seek probe into murder
: The Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology Teachers Association (GJUTA) today demanded a departmental inquiry into the murder of a girl student inside the campus on November 26. It said that responsibility of the officials concerned should be fixed and strict action taken. It demanded several steps to secure the campus.

Motilal Nehru remembered: Haryana Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor K. S. Khokhar on Thursday described the late Motilal Nehru as a true follower of Mahatma Gandhi. Speaking at a function organised by the university to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Motilal Nehru, he said the country would remember him for being a freedom fighter and the patriarch of India’s powerful political dynasty which had produced three Prime Ministers.

Man duped of Rs 5.79 lakh
: Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Landi (Shahabad), has lodged a complaint with the police that Dr Dhan Raj of Narula Dental Clinic Karnal and Rajender Bhamba of Bhamba Karyana Store Neval (Karnal) had duped him of Rs 5.79 lakh by promising to send him abroad. But they had neither sent him abroad nor returned the amount.

Mobike thieves held: With the arrest of two persons, an inter-district gang of motor cycle thieves has been busted. District police chief Rakesh Kumar Arya said the police had recovered nine stolen motor cycles from Sanjay Kumar, resident of Model Town, Karnal, and Ranjit of Kota Samastipur, Bihar.

Murder accused arrested
: After a brief exchange of fire, the Criminal Investigative Agency (CIA) unit of the Sonepat police arrested Mohit, a criminal carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000, late on Tuesday night from the double canal road near Rohat village. Deputy superintendent of police Rakam Singh on Wednesday said Mohit was an accused in three cases of murder and two of attempt to murder. The police seized a countrymade pistol, three cartridges and a motor cycle from his possession.
