SOPU leader held
Mohali, November 27
The SOPU leader, Amandeep Singh Multani, who was wanted in an assault case, was arrested this morning. In the evening, Multani was produced in a court, which remanded him in two-day police custody. The police had demanded five-day remand for Multani, against whom around seven different cases had been registered in Chandigarh.

10K teachers to be recruited
Mohali, November 27
Class IV employees in a cheerful mood after getting confirmation letters from the Education Minister in Mohali on Tuesday Education Minister Sikandar Singh Maluka said on Tuesday that 10,000 new school teachers would be recruited in Punjab. He said 3,400 teachers would get the appointment letters by the year end. The information was given by the Minister at a function, organised to give appointment letters to 139 computer teachers and job confirmation letters to 517 class IV employees.

A 55-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he was hit by a car at the road dividing Sectors 35 and 36 this afternoon.
The police has booked Sarita Ghosh, a teacher of a prominent school in the city, for causing death due to negligence under Section 304-A of the IPC. She was also injured in the accident and was admitted to the Sector 16 hospital.

22-yr-old commits suicide

A 22-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence today morning.
