Invitation cards for livestock competition omit venue

The district office of the state animal husbandry department on Saturday distributed invitation cards for the scheduled two-day district-level livestock championship to be held on November 19-20 without mentioning the venue and with the wrong date.

Though the cards mention the event and the names of the dignitaries scheduled to attend, yet the venue has not been mentioned.

As per the details on the card, the championship would begin on December 19 at 2:30 pm, while the event actually scheduled to begin on November 19.

It would be inaugurated by MLA, Malout, Harpreet Singh. The event would be presided over by the president, Municipal Council, Muktsar, Mitt Singh Brar. Chairman, Cooperative Bank, Muktsar, Tejinder Singh Middukhera, would be the special guest

On the second day, prizes would be distributed by the managing director, Cooperative Bank, Muktsar, Kanwarjeet Singh Barkandi Rozy. SAD's Gidderbaha constituency in-charge Sant Singh Brar would preside over the function and chairman, Zila Parishad, Muktsar, Manjeet Singh Sandhu would be the special guest.

When asked about the error, Naresh Sachdeva, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Muktsar, said, "I admit the fault as the venue of the event is missing from the cards and the date has also been mentioned wrongly. But now the cards have been distributed and it is impossible to get them back."

"We will put up hoardings across the district to inform the public about the venue," added Sachdeva. He said nearly 500 cards were distributed for the event.
