On the call given by United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), nearly 10 lakh bank employees and the All India Bank Officers' Association held a rally in front of Canara Bank, Bharat Nagar Chowk. Even as the main sewerage line on the Sidhwan Canal bridge on Ferozepur Road got damaged five days ago, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) has failed to repair it so far. As per an estimate, around Rs 8 lakh is being spent on repairs by the operations and maintenance (O&M) branch of the MC, but the sewer line has still not been fixed.

Doctors can land in soup for fake fitness certificates
Ludhiana, August 22
Issuing a fake fitness medical certificate to a person aspiring for a driver's licence could land a doctor in trouble. The DIG, MF Farooqui, said on the sidelines of a seminar conducted at the ISBT for sensitising bus drivers about traffic rules, that a case would be registered against doctors issuing fitness certificates without conducting a medical examination.

4 suspected cases of dengue reported
