Green belt or concrete ground?

The green cover is decreasing in the city and the Municipal Corporation (MC) is not doing anything to even maintain the existing green cover. The green belt along the Sidhwan Canal in the Model Town Extension area has literally been turned into a dumping ground by private contractors to dispose of debris.

Police acts against eve-teasers

A flesh trade racket was busted by the Daba police here this evening. DSP (South) Gurmeet Kaur said Ranjit Kaur, alias Rano, and her husband Sucha Singh, the main accused, were into the trade for the last many years and a case had earlier been registered against them.
Man's body found in canal

The body of a man, aged between 40 and 50 years, was recovered from the Sidhwan Canal, near the south city road here this morning.
Investigating officer Gagandeep Singh said they got information around 7:30 am today about the body.

Undertrial dead

Varinder Verma, an undertrial at the Central Jail, died at the Civil Hospital here today. According to information available, Verma was admitted to the hospital today when his condition deteriorated and his family staged a protest against the jail authorities.
