Youth killed in mishap
: A youth was killed when his motorcycle rammed into a tractor-trailer near Jaula Kalan village last night. The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Manoj Kumar, a resident of Jaula Kalan village. He was rushed to the PGI, Chandigarh, where he succumbed to his injuries. The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy.

House burgled
: A young boy and a girl allegedly committed burglary at a house belonging to one Raj Rani on Rahon Road here. They entered the house and attacked the house owner leaving her unconscious. The duo decamped with her gold ornaments, including a bracelet, chain, nose-ring and two rings. Later, when Raj Rani regained consciousness, she reported the incident to the nearby shopkeepers. — OC

Hotel management students get tips on cocktail making: Dr Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh, organised an interactive cocktail seminar here today. Bar trainers Rohan Jelkie and Ajay Nayyar demonstrated the preparation of cocktails such as whisky manhattan, blushing maiden, Havana club daiquiri, and whisky crusta using exclusive ingredients.

Four booked for theft: The police has booked four persons for taking away Rs 23 lakh, jewellery and some documents from the car of one Ajay Kanwar, a resident of Sector 23. The complainant said four persons stopped his car on the road separating Sector 27 C and Sector 27 D. They took away Rs 23 lakh, one gold chain and one gold ring, along with other documents. The accused later dropped him in Sector 27, Panchkula.

Rly station
: Bugana village of the district may soon have a railway station. Official sources said Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda had approached Northern Railway to set up a railway station in the village. VK Gupta, GM, Northern Railway, has assured Hooda that a station would be set up shortly. The panchayats of Bugana, Sulkhani and Dhiktana had submitted a memorandum to Hooda in this regard.

Man dead
: Krishan Kumar and Vijender, both residents of Kalanwali, were hit by a car near Pipli on Thursday. Krishan Kumar succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Delhi on Friday while Vijender sustained serious injuries. A case has been registered.

Three booked
: After Ram Autar (53) succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital here on Thursday, the police has registered a case of murder against the son-father-mother trio, all residents of Rajgarh village. Police sources said when Ram Autar stoned his neighbour, Rajender’s goats, which had strayed into the former’s house on July 18, Rajender, along with his father, Laxman Singh and mother, Omwati, had allegedly thrashed Ram Autar mercilessly.

Rohtak
New building
: The city police station has got a new building built at a cost of Rs 1.35 crore. Earlier, located at the Bhiwani Stand Chowk and later shifted to an old and dilapidated building of the sadar police station near Mata Darwaja, this is perhaps the third such station which has got a new building in the past few years. It was inaugurated by Haryana DGP RS Dalal on Friday.

Summer break in Valley schools from July 23
: The government today announced a 10-day summer vacation for schools of the Kashmir valley from July 23. In a statement issued here, Director, School Education, Kashmir, MS Rather said all government and private recognised schools of Kashmir division will observe summer vacation from July 23 to August 1. “Any violation, if observed, shall warrant strict action under rules,” he said.

:Residents of Indra Colony under the aegis of the Samaj Kalyan Smiti met the Executive Engineer of Water Works with regard to shortage of water in their area. The members complained that the water supply was disrupted at many places. There was only one tube-well in the area. They urged the officer to solve their problem soon. — TNS
