High-security number plates on Motor Vehicles
Gurgaon, July 12 Referring to security features of these number plates, Jakhu pointed out these were made of aluminum, had a distinct “India” hologram and a small laser number written underneath the registration number so that these cannot be tampered with. “Besides, the registration number written on this
|plate can be read easily from a distance of 200 metres even during the night. The registration number glows when light falls on it, which enhances its visibility. On being fitted once, these number plates cannot be removed. This will help the police track stolen vehicles,” he said. In addition, a sticker
bearing the registration number will also be pasted on the front windscreen of the vehicles. Even if the sticker is removed, an impression of the registration number would be left on the glass. After the owner of a vehicle submits the authorisation slip issued by the Registering Authority at the company centre, it will have to affix the plate within four days. The company would have to pay a
fine to the vehicle owner in case of delay. In case the HSRP is broken due to some reason, the owner will have to get it prepared again from the same agency after getting an authorisation slip from the Registering Authority. There are 79 registering authorities in the state where affixing of the HSRPs begun today. The rates applicable for the preparation of the HSRP are - Rs 121 for motorcycle and tractor, Rs 140 for scooter, Rs 161 for three-wheeler, Rs 364 for light motor vehicles (car, jeep etc) and Rs 280 for commercial vehicles. |

Delhi firm accused of overcharging vehicle owners
Chandigarh, July 12 In fact, Utsav Safety Systems, which is also executing a similar project in New Delhi, is quoting 65 per cent more average prices for different categories of vehicles in Haryana, alleged Agros Implex Private Limited, New Delhi, another firm, in a representation to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh, who also holds the Transport Department. Alleging that an important clause in the tender document, which called upon the “bidder to
undertake that quoted rates were its lowest rates” has been overlooked, the representation further alleged that the state government extended undue benefit to the bidder. “This would lead to eventual
loss of every vehicle owner in the state as they should have got the benefit of
the lower prices, if the Transport Department had followed its own tender conditions and paid heed to the representations made by us for the benefit of the public,” the representation asserted. The Haryana Government recently signed an agreement with Utsav Safety Systems for the execution of the HSRP project in the state, aimed at checking theft of vehicles and preventing their misuse for commiting crimes. Ramendra Jakhu, Additional Chief Secretary, Transport, said the state government had already sought comments from Utsav Safety Systems
on the pricing of the new number plates. “If the company is affixing the HSRPs at lower rates in Delhi, it will have to do so at the same rates in Haryana as this is one of the conditions of the tender documents," he added. |
