Man shot dead: One person was shot dead in Thurana village of the district on Monday in a group clash involving family members. The police said the deceased had been identified as Satpal Sharma, an employee of the DHBVN. Sharma and his brother, Dhan Singh, had a decade-long dispute over a piece of land. The panchayat failed to resolve the dispute. Members of the two groups clashed on Monday. Bhanu of the rival group shot Sharma with a country-made pistol. He was rushed to a hospital in Hansi but he died on the way. A case has been registered.Kurukshetra
UGC eligibility test: The UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for the eligibility of junior research fellowship and lecturership will be held here on June 24, Sunday. Bootleggers: In a drive launched against bootleggers, the Bawal police on Sunday intercepted a Tata 407 vehicle on the Khera Murar-Bawal road and seized 1,100 bottles of English wine and 624 bottles of beer from it which were being smuggled to Shahjehanpur town of Alwar district in Rajasthan. A case under the Excise Act was registered and the driver, Manoj, was arrested. The Dharuhera police seized 84 bottles of English wine, 480 bottles of beer and 580 bottles of liquor from Santosh Singh’s kiosk, near Dharuhera, on Sunday. Gang rape: With the arrest of a city gangster, Yash Saini, alias Mannoo, the police has cracked a case of gang rape that had been committed by three city youths with a teenaged girl (19), a student of a Narnaul college and a resident of Bachhod village, near Narnaul, in the early hours here on Saturday. Saini’s two accomplices, Monu Saini and Atul Sharma, whose names were revealed by the apprehended gangster during interrogation, were still at large. Boy drowned: A boy drowned in a village pond at Kelnian in Sirsa on Sunday. Raman (18), a Class X student, had escaped from his house on Sunday. His family made frantic efforts to find him. Later, some villager told them that he saw Raman near the village pond. The boy’s family took the services of some divers, who found Raman’s body after searching for a long time. The police shifted the body to the General Hospital, Sirsa, where it was handed over to the family.

Youth commits suicide: Navneet Kumar (22) of Sargal village under Barthin gram panchayat reportedly hanged himself from the roof of his house on Sunday night. Reports said Navneet had gone to sleep in his room, but at about midnight his brother, who was sleeping in the adjoining room, heard some noise and on coming out of his room, he found his brother lying dead on the floor. The family rushed Navneet to nearby Primary Health Centre, but he was declared brought dead by the doctor. KANGRA
Young woman dies of poisoning: A young woman consumed poison at the house of her father in Sarrah village and died at
DRPGMC, Tanda, on Tuesday. The police said Shalu (21) of Katholi village was married some months back to Chaman

Jewellery worth Rs 1.05 lakh stolen: Jewellery worth Rs 1.05 lakh was stolen from the house of Hans Raj, a resident of Kot village in Sarkaghat, when the family was out of the house. Though the police has lodged the FIR on the complaint of Hansraj but no arrest has been made so far.

Army jawan killed in Kashmir: An Army jawan was killed after suspected militants opened fire at an Army post at Zatchaldara, Handwara, in north Kashmir's Kupwara district last night.
The police said militants attacked a makeshift picket at the Rani post of 21 Rashtriya Rifles in which Lance Naik Rajesh Kumar was injured. Kumar later succumbed to his injuries.
