15-yr-old dies in freak accident

In a freak incident, a 15-year-old boy died after he fell from a staircase and a scissor lying on the
floor pierced his heart here this evening. The incident took place when Deepak Kumar, a class VIII student, was playing with his friends on the rooftop in Guru Arjan Dev
Nagar near Samrala Chowk.
16-year-old suffers eye injury

A petty quarrel with a classmate proved costly for 16-year- old Gagandeep Singh, who has suffered partial blindness.
Gagandeep's classmate had attacked him with a compass following a quarrel at a school here on May 3.
Thieves strike twice, 1 nabbed

The stray dog menace has literally taken the town in its stride. The stray dogs have become a nuisance for residents of the town. “We are nowhere safe. The moment we step out of our homes, the stray dogs standing in the streets give us an ignoble welcome. Children are the worst sufferers, as they fail to get rid of them by just shooing them away,” expressed Arun

Ward number 7 presents a picture of neglect

Ward no. 7 is an evidence of neglect by the civic body and ward councillor Mandeep Kaur
Sandhu. Most of the areas of the ward are deprived of basic amenities like clean potable water supply, sanitation and sewerage. Some of the areas have been turned into roadside dumping grounds while streets and all vacant places are filled with garbage. Stagnant water on the streets and uncarpeted roads make life of the residents worse.

A team of the PWD officials led by an XEN, Ropar circle, Karnail Singh, and the SDO Kirpal Singh swung into action to remove illegal constructions on Ludhiana-Chandigarh road at
Khant, Pohlo Majra and Sanghol villages. The officials reached near Bus Stand Sanghol with a JCB in the morning at 9.30 am and other concerned officials also reached with the police force.

Police to crack whip against tipplers

Theft at factory unit
