Prime witness in murder case shot dead in Panipat
Panipat, April 27 Kuldeep Singh was the father of Sushil Kumar, who had been allegedly killed by notorious criminal Surinder Kala and members of his gang in May 2009. He was on his way to depose before the court against Kala in the case when the incident took place. Kuldeep was accompanied by two other villagers, Rajesh and Dharampal, who also sustained bullet injuries in the incident. Fearing for his life, Kuldeep had in the morning approached the Matlauda SHO to provide him additional security for the day, but was refused permission. The single gunman had been provided to Kuldeep by former IG of Rohtak range V Kamaraj as his life was under constant treat from Surinder Kala and his members of his gang. Immediately after they left the village, an SUV stopped them and the occupants started firing at them. Kuldeep Singh and Ram Niwas were killed on the spot while Rajesh and Dharampal sustained injuries and were later taken to the Panipat Civil Hospital from where they were shifted to a private hospital. Following the incident, IG, Rohtak Range, Alok Mittal reached the district and placed SHO Matlauda Vikram Singh under suspension for being negligent in performing his duties and refusing to provide additional security to Kuldeep Singh. The IG also interacted with Rajesh and Dharampal at the Civil Hospital and asked the district police to initiate action against the assailants. The Sushil murder case had rocked the district in May 2009 in which Surinder Kala and nine of his accomplices had been booked by the police. It was only in August last year that Kala surrendered in a Gurgaon court and was brought to the district on transit warrants where he faced several other cases along with the Sushil murder case. District police chief KK Rao said the police suspected the involvement of Surinder Kala in the incident as Kuldeep was going to depose against him in the court. Meanwhile, the court hearing the Sushil murder case issued non-bailable warrants against three other witnesses in the case as they had failed to turn up for hearing after the firing incident. |
Prahladgarh murder
Bhiwani, April 27 They allege that the police has fabricated the story by roping in those three youths who already have criminal backgrounds to slap one more criminal case upon them. A mahapanchayat has been convened for April 29 in Prahaldgarh village. Elders and residents from 21 nearby villages would discuss the further strategy to be adopted in the mahapanchayat. The case assumed importance after INLD secretary-general Ajay Singh Chautala tried to link it with the hospitalisation of Chief Parliamentary Secretary Ram Kishan Fauji with symptoms of poisoning. Villagers say that Subhash, who was injured in the attack and whose cousin (Rajbir) was murdered, has not identified the arrested persons. But the police is not finding his testimony trustworthy. Meanwhile, the police obtained custody of the third accused, Rajesh, alias Mota. He was already in Bhiwani jail for another criminal case. |
