Solving problems of industry priority, says Bahuguna
Tribune News Service

Nainital, April 21
On his first visit to Udham Singh Nagar after taking over as Chief Minister, Vijay Bahuguna today tried hard to bring home the point that his government was industry-friendly and promised that problems of the industrialists would be addressed on priority.

He emphasised the need for a close industry-government relationship and promised the industrial groups that he would always be available to address their concerns.

Bahuguna participated at a meeting organised by the Kumaon Garhwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI) on the Mandi Directorate premises at Rudrapur today. He said there should be coordination between the government and the industry.

He added the establishment of new industrial units was in the interest of the people.

Bahugana promised the industrialists that additional taxes imposed on the transportation of raw material to the manufacturing units in the state and on the movement of the manufactured goods out of the state would be abolished.

The Chief Minister said a power sub-station at Sitarganj would be made functional soon. He also promised that the Kashipur-Rudrapur road would be widened.

Bahuguna asked the industrialists to set up those kind of industries that offered maximum employment avenues to the local youth. He laid emphasis on the setting up of food processing units.

Finance Minister Indira Hridayesh, who accompained Bahuguna, said the government was committed towards creating employment avenues for the local youth and urged the industrialists to make sincere efforts towards this direction. She praised Tata Motors for its initiative of adopting some industrial training institutes (ITIs) to train unemployed youth and asked other industries to follow the example.

Revenue Minister Yash Pal Arya underlined that since the industry had benefited by shifting to the Terai area, it should reciprocate by employing local youths according to the norms. Principal Secretary (Industries) Rakesh Sharma apprised the participants of the meeting of the facilities being extended by the state government to the industry.

Chairperson of the KGCCI Vikas Jindal apprised the Chief Minister of the problems being faced by the industry. He raised the issue pertaining to the delay in issuing of the no objection certificates (NoCs) by the Pollution Control Board and the issue of the special package withdrawn by the Centre before its maturity time. He said there was need for improvement in the transport infrastructure and development of the railways and aviation sectors in the region.

The chairman of the Rice Millers’ Association, Suraj Bhan Jindal, raised the issues pertaining to the mandi tax on the paddy arriving in the state from Uttar Pradesh.

Bahuguna was in Haldwani yesterday, where he promised to help the town overcome civic problems.

At a meeting with the officials of various departments at the circuit house yesterday, he announced that providing education, health facilities, power and water was the priority of his government.

He again advocated that stalled power projects should be allowed to be executed. He added a lack of proper policy on hydropower had resulted in a major loss to the state over the past five years.

For Dutta, it’s all about giving people a style

Dehradun, April 21
With judgements being made about people in a matter of seconds, creating a powerful first impression has now become a necessity, providing a roomful of opportunity for image and style consultants to help in putting one’s best
foot forward.

It is perhaps the sign of changing times that Dehradun too has woken up to the need for such a service and sniffing an opportunity, Jaideep Dutta has started a consultancy service 'Mutatio' here.

Students, corporate honchos and politicians all want to project a winning image and Dutta helps them in it. “Let’s face it! People judge you on the basis of first impression. Be it the interview or social meeting, success depends greatly upon how successful we are in making an impact on the other person,” said Dutta.

His management training and exposure in the corporate sector while working with the HDFC Bank and Ozone Pvt Ltd is proving handy. His decision to come back to his hometown was aimed at giving something in return. “There is a knowledge vacuum which we wanted to fill up. We want people to know what can be achieved through good grooming and styling. This could be followed up by selecting the right diet-plan for a lasting change,” explained Dutta.

While there may be several solution providers for the personality grooming in the city, Dutta says a person’s image is a combination of several factors and only an image and style consultant can help people project a winning image in all aspects.

His recent session with the class 12 students of St Joseph Academy helped break the ice. “It was a wondrful experience to discuss with the students their likes and dislikes and why it was important to focus on personal grooming, health and hygiene,” averred Dutta. He has similar sessions lined up with different schools, colleges and institutions.

Very often people find themselves at loss in selecting clothes for a formal engagement, it may be due to lack of time or lack of information on the kind of clothes that would suit them. “An image consultant has the knowledge and the experience to identify the personal style of an individual and then suggest a clothing solution. People have sought advice on the selection of ties and turbans. I have equipped a business tycoon’s wardrobe after zeroing in on his personal style and taste,” said Dutta.

While holding sessions with students, Dutta does not fail to emphasis personal grooming and body language. “Poor body language with sloppy dressing can put people off. One has to be very careful with the choice of clothes,” said Dutta.
