Bathinda
TB awareness camp held
: Alliance Club International, Bathinda, organized a free medical check-up camp at Sri Narayan Bal Vidya Mandir, Janta Nagar, on Sunday. The camp was inspired by District TB Officer Dr Ashok Monga of the District Health Society, RNTCP Bathinda. Gagan Goyal, communication facilitator, made the people aware about the symptoms and precautions and the DOT system of treating tuberculosis. He asked the people to complete the course of the drug for the disease. Commissioner, Income Tax, SK Mittal, Chairman, Alliance Club, Pawan Singla, President, Alliance Club, Suresh Goyal, Bathinda unit of the SBI Ladies Club and all members of the club were present on the occasion.

Mega job fest held
: A 2-day mega job fest “Management Quest” organised by the Emax Group of Institutes concluded here recently with total selections of 99 candidates from different colleges of the region. As many as 680 MBA and BBA students registered and attend the placement drive. After all the rounds of selection processes, finally 99 MBA students were selected. The selected students would draw salary from Rs 1.20 lakh to Rs 4 lakh per annum. 

World Health Day observed: Chaman Vatika School observed World Health Day in the school recently. On the occasion a medical camp was held under the guidance of Dr Kapil Vohra, Dr Puneet Ahluwalia and Dr DS Jaspal. A special morning assembly was held.

Office-bearers elected
: The following have been elected office-bearers of the Narnaul Bar Association: Bhani Sahai Valdia - president; Bhim Singh Dahiya - vice-president; Vinod Bhardwaj - secretary; Mahesh Dixit - joint secretary; Rajesh Yadav - treasurer; and Rajesh Kumar - auditor. These newly elected office-bearers were administered the oath of office by chief returning officer Om Prakash Yadav at a samaroh held in the bar room in the Mini-Secretariat at Narnaul recently. 

BJP’s Foundation Day: Commemorative functions were held at Rewari, Guriani, Zenabad-Dahina, Narnaul, Ateli Mandi, Satnali Mandi and several other places in the Ahirwal region to mark the 33rd anniversary of BJP’s Foundation Day recently. Om Prakash Grover, octogenarian BJP leader and a former state party chief, unfurled the party flag at a well-attended gathering of the party activists in Rewari. 

Body found: A body of a beggar was found at the New Sabzi Mandi area here yesterday. He was identified as Shiv Narain (35), a resident of Bihar. The city police has treated it as a case of incidental death. A senior police official said he was suffering from mental disorder.

Two held for duping youths
The Kashipur police has busted a gang involved in duping a number of youths on the pretext of getting them through in the examination for 'Group C' posts in the state government, which was held on Sunday. Two members of the gang, a primary school teacher and a dismissed police personnel, have been arrested. They have been identified as Neeraj Saxena of Lahoriyan village and Tejpal Singh of Bazpur. A resident of Bazpur had lodged a complaint against them alleging that he had been promised clearance in the examination at a cost of Rs 5 lakh. The police put the cellphones of the accused on surveillance and gathered that they had taken money from some other youths also. The duo was arrested from Sultanpur Patti on Sunday. The mastermind, a lawyer from Haldwani, is still at large.

Farmers lose Rabi crop to hail
Farmers of Bageshwar district have complained of major losses to agricultural and horticultural produce on account of storms and hail, which was experienced over the past one week. They have stated that a large portion of the Rabi crop has been destroyed in areas like Garud, Kafligaud, Kanda and Kapkot. While a large number of pine trees have fallen, the flowers of plum, peach and apricot trees have also been destroyed. They further stated that unseasonal rains are also not god for the wheat crop.

Man found hanging from tree
A man was found hanging from a tree in Kaida village of the remote Okhalkanda block of Nainital district. The body of 45-year- old Trilok Singh was found hanging on Sunday. It is being assumed that the man committed suicide but the reason why he took the extreme step is yet to be known.

Minor raped in US Nagar
A case of an alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl has come to light from the Khatima area of Udham Singh Nagar district. According to information, the victim had come to visit her uncle in Majhaula village. When the girl had gone to the wheat fields along with some other children, the accused, Shankar Lal, lured her away and allegedly raped her. When the girl did not return home by evening, a hunt was launched and she was found in a state of shock and bleeding profusely. The incident took place on Saturday and a case was registered on Sunday evening. The accused is still at large.

Labourer dies in mishap
A labourer lost his life while performing his duty at a plywood unit in Rudrapur on Sunday. The deceased, Anant Ram, a resident of Bareilley, was transporting heavy goods in a trolley lift when the trolley collapsed and fell down. Heavy articles fell on the victim, causing serious injuries to him. He was taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
