Police detains five students

GMSH told to pay Rs 4-lakh relief
Suman with her husband. Chandigarh, March 2
Holding the Government Multi Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, guilty of medical negligence in the Suman case, the UT Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, in an order issued today, directed the hospital to pay Rs 4 lakh compensation to the victim, besides Rs 50,000 as litigation costs.

VHP activists stall film Shooting 
Chandigarh, March 2
Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Shiv Sena activists stop a Hollywood crew from shooting a film near the Mani Majra market, Chandigarh, on Friday. The City’s romance with Hollywood took an ugly turn today when activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) stalled the shooting of Kathryn Bigelow's film on Osama bin Laden at Mani Majra, objecting to hoisting of Pakistani flag there. The film unit accused the activists of abusing and pushing the cameramen and even trying to damage the camera, which were eventually put away.

Haryana govt forwards names of 3 IAS officers

Three persons were held guilty by the Panchkula court in the Rs 7.9-lakh robbery at the State Bank of Patiala branch in Sector 15 here today.

Domestic help alleges torture
Panchkula, March 2
The police rescued an 18-year-old boy working as a domestic help from the house of a former Army officer in Sector 2 here today. The police swung into action only after the parents of the victim, identified as Karan, a native of Uttar Pradesh, complained to the police this morning. A team along with a labour inspector reached the spot.

White Zen gang at it again
Panchkula, March 2
The members of the White Zen gang once again struck at Panchkula on February 24 and looted Rs 6 lakh at gunpoint. They targeted two employees of a roadways firm who were on their way to office after withdrawing Rs 6 lakh from HDFC Bank, Sector 11. A senior police official said the gang members had been active in Panchkula since 2002 and they targeted those persons who returned from bank after withdrawing huge sums. None of the police official has ever been able to arrest the gang members who always use a white Zen for committing the crime.

Panjab University Campus beat Youth Club, Sector 30, 2-0 in the super league match of the Chandigarh Senior Men Football Championship being played at the Sector 17 Football Stadium here today.
Campus forwards started the game on a promising note by scoring first goal in the fifth minute. Right winger Jagdeep scored the goal with an angular shot which beat the keeper completely. Stung by this early setback, Youth Club started making desperate moves but their forwards missed to take any advantage. The ball remained in midfield in the first half.
