Import duties on gold and silver have now been linked to prices, which can result in an increase in rates on the precious metals. The import duty on gold has been changed to 2 per cent of value from the earlier flat Rs 300 per 10 grams and of silver to 6 per cent of value from Rs 1,500 per kg.
