Having travelled from Shimla to the city to tie ‘rakhi’, Deepika was shaken by the news of Manish’s death.
Central Club gets eviction notice

One of the oldest clubs in the city, Central Club at Sector 9, is on the way out, with the estate office today issuing an eviction notice to the club. The notice was issued for default in lease money payment since 2000 and misuse of premises, including subletting to private parties.
Man misfires, injures brother

The Panchkula police registered an attempt-to-murder case against the owner of a tours and travel company for firing a shot at a 23-year-old Mumbai resident, which ultimately hit the brother of the accused.

Bharat Sevak Samaj turns 59

The Bharat Sevak Samaj turned 59 today. To mark the founder’s day celebrations, the Chandigarh chapter of the samaj announced a timely initiative that will benefit underprivileged and disadvantaged groups of society through a special language enhancement programme that will run on the Sector 24 premises of the samaj in Chandigarh.

Traffic diversions on Independence Day

City not to be stopover destination anymore

Le Corbusier’s architectural wonder Chandigarh is set to shed its image of a stopover destination for the tourists bound for Himachal Pradesh and other states.
In a development that would go a long way in developing the city as a tourist hub, the Union Ministry of Tourism has proposed a tourist circuit for the city interlinking major tourist attractions to hold the tourists for more than one day.

Names struck off list, voters cry foul

In a major faux pas, the names of two women voters — Krishan Devi and Tarlochan Kaur — living in a block of houses in Phase 7 have been deleted from the electoral rolls prepared for the forthcoming SGPC elections in the Mohali constituency on the plea that they have died.
