Student attacked outside Sec-10 DAV College

Student politics raised its ugly head once again as a 22-year-old student of DAV College was attacked with swords and baseball bats in front of the college gate at Sector 10 here today.

Minor raped, two held
Panchkula, June 28
In a bizarre incident, a 15-year-old class X student of a private school here was allegedly kidnapped and raped by two youths. The victim’s elder brother knew the accused.On the complaint of the victim’s father, the police arrested the accused, identified as Sahil Puri, a resident of Sector 2 and first-year mechanical engineering student of a Baddi-based private university, and Marshal Arora, a resident of NAC, Mani Majra, and a BA first-year student of a private college in Chandigarh.

One killed, three critically hurt as truck hits tree

A man was killed and four other people were injured after a truck rammed into a tree near Naggal village in Bawala on NH-73 in the wee hours on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Somnath, 36, a resident of Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh. After a post mortem was conducted his body was handed over to his family members.

Youth succumbs to burn injuries at PGI
Kalka, June 28
Kuldeep Singh, alias Ladi, a youth of Bhima Devi Colony, Pinjore, who had sustained severe burn injuries yesterday, succumbed to his burn injuries today at the PGI, Chandigarh. The family sources confirmed that he breathed his last at 2 pm. Kuldeep had sustained serious injuries while preparing tea on stove at his place when all the family members had gone to attend some wedding function.Suddenly, his clothes caught fire.

5 held for immoral trafficking

The police arrested five persons, including a pimp and four girls, on charges of immoral trafficking near Hotel Parkview late last night. The police arrested Harish, a Mohali resident, along with four girls. The police said they had received a tip-off that a person was coming to Hotel Parkview along with four girls.
