Drunk driving: 300 challaned in May

Villagers resent land acquisition to benefit bigwigs

Landowners of this village are upset with the state government for allegedly going out of its way to extend benefit of land compensation to well-heeled and politically connected members of land mafia by carving out a 380-acre urban estate in the village, located along the Chandigarh-Siswan road, and displacing them to appease bigwigs.

UT to get Rs 10 crore for six new schools

Land finalised for MC office
Zirakpur, May 30
The Zirakpur Municipal Council has finalised a land for building a new MC office near Punjab Sewerage and Water Supply office at old Kalka road. A resolution to this effect was passed at the MC meeting at its office here today. Earlier, the council had selected the land to set up the building in Bishanpura village opposite the police station.
