No power cuts this summer: PSPCL chief

Claiming that the days of acute power crisis in Punjab are over with enough electricity available to meet the increased demand in the summer season, the CEO of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) KD Choudhry said no power cuts would be imposed on any category of consumers.
New I-T return forms issued

The income tax department has issued new income tax return forms Sahaj and Sugam.The forms will be applicable for the year 2010-2011. Mentioning the bank accounts on the forms is mandatory irrespective of whether the fund is due or not. Sahaj form has been introduced in place of SARAL II. Those who have salary income, income from pension, income from house property, and interest income will have to fill Sahaj ITR-I.
‘PAU can’t be run by remote control’

Work on the construction of the Jagraon-Mallha link road has been a mere eyewash, with work not being carried out on any stretch since it began on March 17.Some heaps of stone had been laid following a visit by Punjab Agriculture Minister Sucha Singh
Langah. According to villagers, the work was stopped the day after the minister’s visit.

Insurance firm told to pay Rs 74,625 to consumer

The permanent lok adalat has ordered the United India Insurance Company to pay a claim of Rs 74,625 on account of damage to the car of a consumer. Pronouncing the order, permanent lok adalat members RS Khokhar and Nand Lal held that claim had been wrongly denied.
