DC finds land registrations pending
Three employees absent from duty

In yet another surprise check conducted by Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tewari, two-and-half-month-old land registrations were found pending in the office of the Sub-Registrar, Ludhiana (Central), while three employees from the Sub-Registrar office, Ludhiana (West), were found absent from duty.
Employees on indefinite strike

Sixty five data-entry operators, maintaining land records, and 15 workers, involved in computerisation of revenue records, went on ian ndefinite strike at the DC office here today.
Patwari nabbed taking bribe

Vigilance sleuths nabbed a patwari in a graft case here today. The accused revenue official, identified as Albail Singh, posted at Dhandra Tah, was nabbed red-handed while he was receiving a bribe of Rs 5,000 from Jagjit Singh, a resident of Karnal Singh Nagar, Phase- III.

Taking a strict action against the officials involved in fraudulent preparing a bogus land deed, Ludhiana deputy commissioner Rahul Tewari on Wednesday issued a charge sheet to a ‘patwari’ and ‘kanungo followed by a written complaint against the ‘tehsildar’ forwarded to the Punjab financial commissioner (revenue).
LIT trustee to be booked for obstructing official duty

The local police is set to book a trustee of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust, Gurinderpal Singh Pappu, a day after he reportedly broke the seals put by the municipal corporation on several city shops accused of violating building bylaws. Following a complaint on the matter filed by MC officials the police may register a case against him on charges of preventing an official from performing his official duty.
Ex-Armymen wage battle against black money

In a unique endeavour, the retired Army officers of the Signal Corps have started a signature campaign to bring back the black money being dumped in the Swiss banks. The signature drive was started yesterday to mark the 100th raising day of the corps of signals.

Condemning yesterday’s incident in which one of the trustees of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) Gurinder Pal Singh Pappu took law into his hands, the affected residents of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar said those who couldn’t respect law had no right to be in the chair. Even the chairman of LIT MM Vyas said the trust had not given the trustee any powers to act like that.
Banned drugs seized, 2 held

The Dehlon police has arrested two members of a gang involved in the supply of banned pharmaceuticals to drug stores in Ludhiana and Sangrur districts.
One of the suspects has been identified as the son of a Khanna police official. Rich haul of pills, capsule and syrup bottles was seized from the accused.
