Science block for Jukhala school:
The state government is making all efforts to ensure that Himachal come up as the best state in the matter of education. Naina Devi MLA and BJP state spokesman Randhir Sharma said this while presiding over the prize distribution function of Government Senior Secondary School, Jukhala, near here, today. He added that a science block was also coming up at this school with an expenditure of Rs 60 lakh and additional Rs 31 lakh had also been sanctioned for the school ground and construction of its outer walls.

Minor raped, one held:
The police has arrested a man for allegedly raping a minor girl. The police said the families of the girl and the accused, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, lived in Masyana village near Hamirpur for the past three years. According to the complaint of the victim’s family, Sonu (24) raped the minor girl in her house yesterday. The police arrested Sonu hailing from Dhomri village of Mahunag district in Uttar Pradesh on the charges of raping a minor.

Chief Secy meets Governor:
Chief Secretary Madhav Lal called on Governor NN Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday. It was Madhav Lal’s first meeting with the Governor after taking over as the Chief Secretary of the state. They discussed various security and development-related issues and the Governor wished Madhav Lal a successful tenure.

Snow in higher reaches likely:
A western disturbance is all set to hit Uttarakhand within a day or two which may cause a further dip in the mercury. Dehradun Meteorological Centre Director Anand Sharma said there could be a snowfall in the higher reaches and some rain in the plains due to a westerly disturbance approaching Uttarakhand. He said disturbance effect could be seen in the state within the next 48 hours. However, weather in the plains would be just cloudy. Uttarakhand has been witness to the severest of winters this year. 

Cop succumbs to accident injuries: A 28-year-old constable who met with an accident on Monday night breathed his last at Mahant Indresh Hospital here today. As per the police, Navnish Khanduri had collided with a bike with his motorcycle at the Haridwar bypass. He was taken to Mahant Indresh Hospital in a serious condition and died while undergoing treatment.
