Powercom staff makes police arrest JE’s killers
Batala, December 21 The matter was reported and two of the jeep occupants were also handed over to the police. Instead of filing an FIR against those named, the SHO Police Station City Batala registered a case against an unknown driver. This ‘biased’ investigation of the police triggered anger amongst Powercom employees following which the PSEB Employees Union blocked the national highway at Gandhi Chowk by keeping the body of Ramneek Verma on the middle of the road. When informed about the blockade, Batala SSP Gurdeep Singh and MLA Jagdish Raj Sawhney arrived at the spot following which Kashmir Singh, SHO (City) Batala, was immediately placed under suspension and a departmental inquiry was also ordered. Later, two persons, identified as Harpreet Singh and Rajwinder Singh, both residents of Wadala Granthian Village were arrested under Section 304 of the IPC. They were produced in the court today where the court gave them one-day police remand. SSP Gurdip Singh said anybody found guilty would not be speared and justice would be done after due investigation. |
