Woollens, utensils distributed:
Baba Farid Sarv Dharm Society yesterday distributed woollens, utensils, shoes, socks and ration to old needy persons. Members of the society conducted a survey in the area and identified the old persons, who are living miserable life either deserted by their wards or are alone. Society president Haji Baba said it was our moral duty to serve the senior citizens, especially those, who had been neglected by their wards and society.He said the members of the society had been serving the needy sections of society by donating the required goods.

Srinagar
Cold wave intensifies in Srinagar
: Cold wave further tightened its grip in Srinagar as the season’s low of - 3.8°C was recorded in the summer capital of the state on Friday, a MET office spokesman said. The dip in the night temperature in the Valley and frontier region of Ladakh had also led to the freezing of almost all water bodies in the high altitude areas and led to the suspension of traffic. The famous ski resort of Gulmarg, 55 km from here, in north Kashmir was the the coldest place in the Valley, with a minimum of minus 5.2°C, the spokesman said.

Ice hockey rink for Leh: The Jammu and Kashmir Government is planning to construct an ice hockey rink in Leh district of the Ladakh region, a state minister said. Minister for Youth Services and Sports R S Chib said here the ice hockey rink would be constructed under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme (PMRP) and would be one of the high- altitude ice hockey rinks in the world. "The rink will be constructed under the PMRP at the earliest so that it becomes one of the best rinks of the world," Chib said, while on a visit to Ladakh.

Udhampur
3 killed in Ramban accident:
Three persons were killed and four, including a minor, injured when an oil tanker they were travelling in met with an accident near Jawahar Tunnel in Ramban district on Friday. SHO, Banihal, Sajid Mir said the accident took place near the tunnel towards the Banihal side. The tanker bearing registration number JK 12 2374 was on its way to Jammu from Pampore in the Kashmir valley. A case was registered at Banihal police station.
