Absconding PUSU leaders arrested

The Chandigarh Police today arrested absconding Panjab University Students Union (PUSU) leaders Udey Singh Wirring and Arshvir Singh Johal on the PU Campus.
The police would produce Wirring and Johal along with three other members of PUSU before a court on
Wednesday.

In a decision having political implications, the Punjab Government today decided to accommodate all landowners who opted for the land-pooling scheme for Aerocity, irrespective of the cut-off date to apply for the scheme.

Rs 500-cr bonanza for city likely

Chandigarh is expecting a Rs 500-crore bonanza from the central government during the current session of Parliament.
The expectation stems from positive indications during a meeting chaired by Union Expenditure Secretary Sushma Nath and attended by UT Finance Secretary Sanjay

VAT cut in Punjab
UT admn may follow suit

Following a cut in percentage of VAT (value added tax) on food grain, including wheat products like “maida”, “suji” and pulses from 4 per cent to 1 per cent in the neighbouring Punjab, the UT administration may also follow suit.

The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) today began the process of refunding the earnest money to unsuccessful applicants. Today, GMADA transferred Rs 2,396 crore to the banks for refunding the amount to the unsuccessful applicants.

LPG cylinder distributor’s godown raided

An inspection was conducted at a local distributor of LPG cylinders in Sector 42 B.
Joint Director, food & supplies and consumer affairs, and SDM (south) Abhishek Dev inspected the premises of M/s Super Gas Service, Bharat Gas distributor, and found that six filled domestic LPG cylinders of 14.2 kg were short in the godown of the
dealer.
