Bathinda
23 new dengue cases in dist
: A report of about 23 new dengue positive cases from the DMC Hospital, Ludhiana, reached the district health authorities here today raising the total number of dengue cases in the district to 223. District malaria officer Dr Malkiat Singh Gill said out of 23 new dengue cases, 21 were from Bathinda city. The remaining two were from Sangat block of the district. He said the total number of dengue cases in the district had risen to 223 now and that of the city was 198.

Cong burns RSS ex-chief’s effigy:
Congress activists burnt former RSS chief K.S. Sudharshan’s effigy for his recent statement against their president Sonia Gandhi. 

Counselling for students: A mass counselling programme was held at Arya Senior Secondary School, Nakodar, as part of one-month-long campaign, organised by the District Bureau of Employment Generation and Training, in association with the district education authorities from October 12 to November 14. Students of classes X and XII were counselled regarding various job-oriented courses. 

170 exhibits displayed at science exhibition: A district-level science exhibition started at Government Senior Secondary School, Gakhal Dhaliwal, yesterday. Over 170 scientific exhibits, made by the students of various schools of the district, were displayed at the exhibition. The three-day exhibition was inaugurated by District Science Supervisor K.P. Sharma and Principal Kamaljit Kaur.

Decomposed body of soldier found :The decomposed body of a soldier was found today behind the Railway Supply Store, Dandera crossing at Roorkee. Lance Naik Mukh Ram of Bengal Engineering Group went missing on October 6 and was marked absent without leave. A search was carried out for him and the local police was also informed about his disappearance.
The body was found in a totally decomposed condition and was sent for postmortem. Mukhram was from Hanumangarh, Rajasthan.
