Govt to use Army as ‘deterrent’ in J&K

New Delhi, July 7
Taking a tough stance against stone hurlers and those indulging in violent protests in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre today made it clear that it would use the Army as a “deterrent” to bring the situation under control in the state.

Mystery shrouds the death of Chief of Staff of the Southern Naval Command, Rear Admiral SS Jamwal, who died today after a bullet pierced his skull. While the Navy said that the highly-accomplished officer accidentally shot himself, the police suspect suicide.

Floods claim 2 more lives
Ambala, July 7
The flood victims being shifted to safer places at Didar Nagar, Kurukshetra,Before receding, the floodwaters claimed two more lives in Ambala district, taking the toll to six. Fifteen-year-old Happy of Ambala cantonment was drowned while crossing the Tangri river. A resident of Boh village, Bhupender Singh, was also drowned.
