Abohar
Volunteers to train students under Padho Punjab plan
: The education volunteers who had been trained on June 1-2, would now educate weak students at the government schools on all working days from 7.30 am to 10 am, informed Block Primary Education official Shyam Sunder Sharma on Saturday. A total of 22 schools have been selected under the Padho Punjab programme in consultation with the district coordinator Shankar Chaudhary. The special teaching classes would be conducted by two teachers each.

Midha shines in AIEEE: Paras Middha of the LRS DAV Senior Secondary School here has got 154th rank in Punjab in AIEEE besides getting 180th rank in the CET conducted by the PTU, informed principal Kusum Khungar on Saturday. He has also qualified in the  IITJEE test.

Principal wins silver: Principal of the Victoria Public School, Manju Mahar, here has won silver medal in kickboxing in the open  category during the karate and kick  boxing tournament that was organised recently by the Nepal government at Kathmandu, Mohit Bagai, marshal arts trainer, informed during a reception on Saturday. Manju led the 10-member team of the school and was declared runner-up in kick boxing.

Sheena among toppers: Sheena of village Muradwala Dal Singh, a student of village Kala Tibba-based Bhag Singh Hayer Khalsa  Collegiate School, has found mention in the merit list of class XII exam of  the PSEB, informed Principal Dr Parminder Sharma recently. Notably, 101 out of 145 students passed securing first  division.

Fancy dress contest:
Orchid playway school organised a fancy dress competition for the students. Chief guest municipal councillor Rachna Oberoi and guest of honour Sonia Oberoi praised the work of the students and gave away prizes. Principal Mukta Jain read the school report.

Seminar held: Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes held a seminar on career guidance and awareness at Civil Lines Club here on Saturday. Chairman of the Institute Dr Zora Singh inaugurated the seminar. Ashok Bharti, chairman of the Improvement Trust, Bathinda, was the chief guest.

Ferozepur
Students get first division
: Parwinder Jit Kaur, principal, Mata Gujri Public School, village Chak Suhelewala, in Ferozepur district informed that all students of the school, who had appeared in class X and XII examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), have passed with first division. In a press note issued here recently, the principal informed that most of the students scored more than 90 per cent and got grade A1.
