Fake Admit Cards
Jhajjar, May 9 According to sources, MDU Vice-Chancellor Dr RP Hooda has issued an order to the college branch to get an FIR lodged against the erring persons, who defrauded the five candidates and adopted illegal means with an intention to extort money from them. Besides, the VC has also directed the college management to take official action against the principal on its behalf and also submit its report in this connection to the university at the earliest. Notably, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has already directed the university authorities to inform it about the outcome of the investigation carried out by a two-member committee of senior professors and the action taken in this regard in view of the findings and recommendations of the inquiry report. Speaking to The Tribune, Dr RP Hooda confirmed that the university authorities would lodge an FIR against the erring principal and the university employee.“Besides police action, I have also ordered to issue a chargesheet against the erring employee soon and asked the college management to initiate appropriate action against the principal, who defamed the name of its institution,” said the VC, adding that the principal would also be derecognised through official procedure. Hooda maintained that he had also ordered to place the case before the Academic Council (AC) of the university for deciding the further course of action in this regard after holding detailed discussion on it. The AC would convene the meeting soon, he added. Five fabricated admit cards for the annual theoretical exams of BPEd course were issued by the university employees to candidates, who were not even enrolled for BPEd course. Interestingly, on the basis of the fabricated admit cards, three of the five candidates, Rashida Jamal, Amit Joshi and Mukesh Chander, succeeded in appearing for the theoretical exams against Ekta Gangwar, Menka and Chhaya Gangwar, respectively. These all were the students of the Sanskriti Institute of Education and Technology, Amarpur Jorasi, Narnaul, and its principal had submitted their examination forms to the university after attesting them with his stamp and signature. The university authorities have already removed one of the erring employees, who had been working as clerk on contract basis with the result branch-1 of the university. |

As a gesture of goodwill, the panchayat expressed grief over the death of Tara Chand and his disabled teenaged daughter Suman in the violence and prayed for peace of their souls. Dhanda said coordination committees would be appointed to facilitate communication between different communities in the
village with the aim to foment ties. These panels would also ensure that all differences in the future were resolved through talks and not through violent means, he added. |
Consumer court summons HUDA chief
Yamunanagar, May 9 “We are of the view that the reply filed by the Chief Administrator and the District Estate Officer is totally false and baseless for which they are burdened with costs of Rs 5,000 and the matter is now adjourned to June 8 for the presence of both officials. “Moreover, counsel for the officials is directed to bring this fact into their notice for their personal appearance as well as for payment of costs,” said president of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum Dina Nath Arora and member Dr VK Sharma. “During the pendancy of the complaint, the LIC had sent a cheque for Rs 92,987 in favour of the Chief Administrator, HUDA, and he paid the amount to the complainant. “Both officials have unnecessarily prolonged the execution of the order without any cause. We feel that the person who signed the reply did not bother to read the order passed by the forum on August 1, 2007 and has signed the reply in a casual manner without going through the contents of the order,” the forum said in its order. The complainant, Sona Devi, along with her children, approached the consumer court after her husband, Dalip Singh, an employee with HUDA expired. Sona Devi of the Housing Board Colony filed a case against the Chief Administrator, Estate Officer and LIC India Limited Pension and Group Scheme Unit, Sector 17, stating that her husband was a member of the group insurance scheme which was started by the HUDA officials who were deducting Rs 90 per month from the salary of her husband for a premium policy of Rs 90,000. Acting on the complaint, the court directed the Chief Administrator and Estate Officer to pay the insured amount of Rs 90,000 to the legal heirs of the deceased along with other benefits and with interest at the rate of 12 per cent per annum. However, the officials did not comply with the order. The complainant again filed an application in the court. |

— TNS Sirsa, May 9 Neither the Congress nor the INLD are contesting the polls on their election symbol. With both leaders actively campaigning for their candidates, there is no doubt that it is actually a battle between the two. Gopal Kanda has been camping in Sirsa and is expected to remain in town till polling on May 20, barring a few visits outside for official work. “Abhey Singh is leaving for Delhi today and will be back on May 14. He will stay put in the town till May 20,” said Padam Jain, district president of the INLD. Kanda, along with district Congress president Hoshiari Lal Sharma, block Congress president Bhupesh Mehta and other local leaders have issued a joint list of 31 candidates for all 31 municipal wards of the Sirsa Municipal Council. The candidates went together to the office of returning officer Satish Jain on May 7, the last date for nominations, and filed their papers. “We have fielded our candidates on all 31 wards of the council and will campaign for them jointly,” Kanda said. “The people of Sirsa will vote for our candidates as they want the municipal council to be governed by the party in power to ensure development ,” he said. However, a section of the Congress led by former minister LD Arora and son-in-law Rahul Setia have disowned the list issued by Kanda. This group has the backing of the Sirsa MP Ashok Tanwar. “It was agreed at a meeting in Delhi that the names of the candidates would be announced after taking all leaders into confidence. However, the names of several sitting municipal councillors were missing in the draft list prepared by Kanda on May 6. “I told him to wait for some time before we took a final decision on these wards, but the minister released the list without taking me into confidence while I was in Parliament,” Tanwar said, when contacted. “Kanda is not Congress unto himself,” Tanwar said sarcastically. LD Arora and Rahul Setia will announce their list tomorrow. Meanwhile, the INLD has announced a list of 31 candidates for all wards. However, RO Satish Jain has rejected the nomination papers of Asha Saraf. Said Abhey Singh Chautala: “The people of Haryana are fed up with this government and the municipal elections will prove this.” He claimed that candidates backed by the INLD would win in all municipalities of the state. |
Rejection of papers sparks row
Sirsa, May 9 The RO rejected her papers on the ground that the signatures of the person who had proposed her nomination were not her own. “The nomination of our candidate has been rejected at the instance of Kanda,” alleged Abhey Singh Chautala, INLD legislator from Ellenabad. “The woman who proposed Saraf’s name appeared before the RO and owned her signatures. She also expressed her willingness to submit an affidavit to substantiate her claim. But, the RO refused to listen,” Abhey Singh alleged. Satish Jain, SDM, Sirsa, who is also RO for the Sirsa Municipal Council, however, justified his orders thus: “I had received complaints that the signatures of the proposers of candidates Asha Saraf (ward 15) and Renu (ward 22) were fake. I asked both candidates to bring their proposers before me. “The signatures of the woman proposing Saraf’s name were found to be fake and her nomination was rejected while Renu failed to bring her proposer and was given the benefit of doubt.” Kanda denied he was in any way behind the rejection of Saraf’s papers. He maintained that his candidates were in a winning position in all 31 wards and he did not need indulge in such practices. The INLD has decided to take the matter
to the court. |

Scribes demand medical cover
Fatehabad, May 9 “The government is yet to give away awards to journalists for 2008, while Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had announced that such awards would be given every year,” Pandit said. He said no action had been taken on the government’s assurance that residential plots would be given to journalists in HUDA sectors at the reserve price. He said it was ironical that the government had already started reservation for advocates, who were 40,000 in number in Haryana, but the facility was being denied to journalists, who were merely 2,000 in
number. He, however, said the government had given several benefits to journalists in the past five years. Pandit said the Haryana Patarkar Sangh had been providing insurance cover to over 800 journalists in Haryana. He said over Rs 80 lakh had so far been distributed among families of journalists who died. Sunil Sachdeva, state secretary, and Balwan Sharma, district president of the sangh, were also present at the meeting. |
Exhibition highlights mother’s virtues
Kurukshetra, May 9 The exhibition highlighted the qualities and virtues of mothers as depicted and manifested across the world since ages with a special reference to India. The exhibition offered a wide spectrum of pictures of Mother Goddess in India evolved in various guises and forms throughout India, sometimes as consorts of the primeval deities (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva), sometimes as a female counterpart of powerful deities and very often as local deities. The most imposing display at the exhibition was the clay replica of the oldest mother, “The Venus of Willendorf”, one of the images of numerous images of Mother Goddess recovered from various places. The statuette dates back to the Upper Paleolithic Period (circa 20,000 to 30,000 BC). Considered to be the oldest mother of the world, it was a replica of an 11-inch statue from Willendorf in Austria (Europe). Paintings, terracotta, stone sculptures and photographs of various guises and moods of mother in various art forms have been showcased in “The exhibit of the month”. The oldest antiquity of the mother in the form of Eknamsha from Sanghel (Faridabad) on stone and the Harappan terracotta replica of mother goddess unearthed from Banawali (Fatehabad), Haryana, was also displayed in the exhibition. The objective of the exhibition was to educate people against female foeticide by bringing awareness about the qualities of mother especially the women. The exhibition was inaugurated on International Mother’s Day today and the museum had invited 30 mothers, who have excelled in their respective profession to participate and deliberate on the symposium organised on the occasion. “Mother is omnipresent as embodiment of activity, power and strength and protects her children from onslaughts by virtue of all these attributes and no wonder she is the tutelary deity of every village in India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Kutch to Kuchahar,” said Purohit, curator and the deputy director of the museum. “Mother has always been seen with respect and love in India and worshipped as “Mother Goddess” both as a cult and as a folk in one form or the other,” he added. |
