: A Pakistan national Mohammad Safiq was released after he completed 15-year imprisonment for being involved in terror activities in India. He was released from the Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post.

Girl dies of suffocation
: A teenage girl died of suffocation while taking bath at her house in Gopal Nagar on Sunday. The police said Priyanka, daughter of Bhupinder Singh, reportedly fainted in the bathroom due to poisonous gas emitted from the LPG-run geyser. Mother found Priyanka, a Class IX student, unconscious, after which she was rushed to a private hospital where she was declared brought dead.

24 cops promoted: The Haryana government has promoted as many as 24 police inspectors as DSPs with immediate effect. Those who were promoted included Lal Chand, Virender Singh, Ishwar Singh, Pyare Lal, Mohinder Singh, Amar Singh, Rohtash Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Jagbir Singh, Mohinder Singh, Satbir Singh, Balbir Singh, Om Singh, Azad Singh, Sher Singh, Madan Lal and Dharambir Singh. Similarly, Dharambir Singh, Tara Chand, Raghubir Singh, Baljinder Singh, Ram Dutt, Rajbir Singh and Jaibir Singh have been promoted as DSP. 

PF subscribers: The office of the Accountant-General, Haryana, has asked the All-India Service/General Provident Fund Subscribers of Haryana to supply the details of their deductions of missing credits, if any. In a letter to this effect issued by the office of the Accountant-General, the subscribers have been advised to review their respective accounts statements for 2008-09 and send complete details of deductions through respective departments of missing credits, if any, viz. voucher/challan number and date, amount of GPF schedule/challan. 

VAT on goods up: The Haryana government has increased the rate of Value Added Tax (VAT) on goods included from Sr. 1 to 101 of Schedule “C” of Haryana Value Added Tax Act, 2003, from 4 per cent to 5 per cent with immediate effect. However, tax on entry in serial No. 102 of Schedule “C” of the Act and on the declared goods covered in Section 14 of the CST Act would continue to be levied at 4 per cent. A notification to this effect has been issued by the Excise and Taxation Department, Haryana.

43 donate blood
: As many as 43 persons, including three police personnel, donated blood at a camp held under the joint auspices of the Kosli units of the Panchnad Smark Samiti, Yuva Shyam Sewa Mandal and the All-India Gramin Vikas Samiti as well as the District Red Cross Society in Kosli on Monday.

Body found in nullah
:The police recovered the body of Benarsi Lal (32) of the Jheri area in Reasi district today. The deceased had left his house last Tuesday and his whereabouts were not known till the recovery of his body from a nullah.Some local residents noticed the body today and informed the police.
