Shatabdi worst hit by long delays
Chandigarh, January 29
The train that was most affected by delays in January was the prestigious Kalka-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, with railway officials blaming the dense fog prevailing in the entire region for several days. The delays were reportedly also incurred due to a section of the rail tracks near Sonepat being damaged, which slowed down the train. However, the railways have denied this.

Sector 17 to get fifth fountain

The Municipal Corporation has approved installation of a fifth fountain for Sector 17 here in the MC house meeting today. Interestingly, the house has also given green signal to a multi-media laser show on water screen with musical fountain at plaza worth Rs 3
crore, which will be the fifth fountain of Sector 17.

Mayor defers fire academy plan

The controversial issue of setting up a fire academy in the city was again left unsettled following a heated debate at the municipal corporation’s house meeting today, the first after Anu Chatrath took over as mayor. Most of the councillors criticised the proposal saying it would be a sheer waste of public funds.

Pensioners seek release of arrears

Panel finds irregularities in Ghaggar project

A three-member committee of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, including MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha, MLA Banur, Jasjeet Singh Bunny, and MLA Madal Lal Thekedar today inspected the work of the under-construction Ghaggar project near Chhatbir at Zirakpur and found irregularities during the construction of the project.
