Sun brings cheer, respite from chill

A bright and sunny day today brought cheer to residents of the city and neighbouring parts of Punjab and Haryana, which had been in the grip of a cold wave for the past over three weeks. The region had witnessed the longest spell of fog and the lowest temperatures in a decade.
Two live hand grenades found

A major tragedy was averted when a bag containing two live hand grenades, reportedly being carried by two motorcycle-borne unidentified youths, fell off when they tried to avoid a police checkpost at Nabha village here this evening.

Airport put on high alert

A red alert has been sounded at the Chandigarh airport following the intelligence inputs that terrorists might attempt to hijack an aircraft.
Regular checking is also being carried out at the ISBTs, the railway station and the airport.
