Tutor, 3 youths booked for rape
Ludhiana, December 25
The Sadar police today booked a woman tutor and three youths in a rape case. According to the police, the victim an 18-year-old girl from Kheri village, alleged that her former tuition teacher forcibly took her to an undisclosed location where the tutor's brother and his friends raped her and confined her in a room for six days.

The four police pickets in the Focal Point area following the migrants clash with the police on December 3 and 4 may not see the light of the day as neither industrialists nor vehra owners are willing to provide space for the police pickets.Currently, all four police pickets are operating in makeshift tents and cops have no other option but to brave the cold weather.

Youth dies as lintel caves in
Mullanpur Dakha,December 25
A youth of Pamali village died yesterday when the lintel of an under construction house caved in. Three others sustained injuries in the incident.

Effigy of Pranab Mukherjee burnt
Ludhiana, December 25
All-India Majlis Ahrar Islam Hind Party burnt an effigy of Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee here today. They were demanding ban on the congregation. The minister is supposed to take part in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat’s Jalsa Salanaat to be held at Qadian in Gurdaspur district on Monday.

Cardiac patients more prone to heart attacks

With the arrival of winter, there has been an upsurge in the number of cardiac patients.Elaborating the medical aspect of the phenomenon, Dr GS Wander, chief cardiologist at Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI), said physiological changes and contamination of various infections during the winter increased the risk of heart attacks.
