Laying to rest any speculation on the matter following the last night attack on moderate Hurriyat leader Fazal-ul-Haq Qureshi, Home Minister P Chidambaram today made it amply clear that the attack on the leader would not be allowed to derail the peace process in Jammu and Kashmir.

1 killed, 11 hurt
Ludhiana, December 5
An activist of a Panthic organisation was killed and 11 others were injured when the police opened fire at Samrala Chowk to stop supporters of Sikh groups from marching towards the venue of a religious congregation to be addressed by Ashutosh Maharaj of the Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan here today. To avoid further loss of human life, property, District Magistrate Vikas Garg clamped curfew in the entire city with immediate effect.

Belying the claim made by Central agencies about “surrender” by ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa along with deputy commander-in-chief and military spokesman Raju Baruah and his bodyguard sergeant Raja Bora, the most wanted ULFA leaders today said they had not surrendered and would never surrender.

Nightclub blast kills 109 in Russia

A massive blast triggered by fireworks display caused a stampede in a packed Russian nightclub in the Ural mountain city of Perm, killing at least 109 and wounding 130 others on Saturday.
