9 Dogra celebrates Battle Honour Day

The Ninth Battalion of the Dogra Regiment, the first motorised battalion of Independent India, celebrated its diamond jubilee and Battle Honour Day in the Western Sector. Serving and retired personnel associated with the regiment attended the three-day function that concluded today. Events, including a special sainik sammelan, were organised. War widows were honoured.It was raised at Jalandhar on January 26, 1948, out of Dogra companies of units that went to Pakistan after the Partition. Immediately after raising, it was deployed in operations during the liberation of
Hyderabad.
