Anmol adjudged best athlete: Kamaljeet and Anita shared the title of
the best athlete among the girls in the X annual athletic meet that concluded
at the Brahm Rishi Mission School on Sunday evening. Anmol was declared the
best athlete among boys. BSF DIG Vimal Kumar Satyarthi was the chief guest on
the occasion. Principal Brahmrita presided over the prize distribution
function. Kamaldeep led the oath ceremony of the participants. Seema Juneja and

Medical
camp on Nov 15: Aggarwal Navyuvak Sabha on Monday resolved to
organise a special camp to examine persons suffering from thyroid,
diabetes and heart diseases. President Anil Nagori informed that
experts would offer tests at subsidised charges during the camp to be
held at Sutlej Public School on November 15. The samples will be sent
to Mumbai for examination.

office-bearers elected: Maya Parkash, Ved Parkash, Krishan
Chander Khichi, Narinder Behal and Sukhchain were on Monday elected as
president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary and cashier
respectively of the Technical Services Union during the annual meeting
held in the sub-division number III of the Punjab State Electricity
Board. Observers from the divisional committee of the TSU were

Dance
competition: During a camp organised at the Venus Public School
here on Sunday, 250 children from different institutions qualified in
the dance competition. Out of them, 100 will be imparted free training
by the Marshal Dance Academy during the next month, director Rajneesh
Chaudhary announced on Sunday evening. Teachers Club president Amreek
Singh, social activist Amit Baveja, councillors Ravtash Singh and Buta
Singh presided over different sessions of the day-long function.

Free eye check-up camp: About 500 persons were examined at a free eye and other diseases check-up camp, organised by the local SD Mahabir Dal Hospital on its premises here. Medicines were given free of cost to the patients. Bathinda SSP Ashish Chaudhary was the chief guest on the occasion.
Science exhibition: A two-day science exhibition of tehsil Bathinda on the topic "Science, Technology and Society" began on the premises of Khalsa Senior Secondary School here on Monday. In this exhibition, the students exhibited their models on six sub-themes, like science and technology in sports, information and communication technology, changing climate.

Sammi dance: Folk dance ‘Sammi’ presented by the Dasmesh Girls College of Education,
Badal, got the first prize in the Panjab University Inter-Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival held at Dev Samaj College For Women,
Ferozepur. Arshdeep bagged the second individual prize in folk dance ‘Sammi’. Dasmesh BEd College bagged the first position at zonal level in ‘Sammi’ for the fourth time in succession and got the first position at the inter-zonal level. PPCC secretary appointed: Municipal councillor, senior Congress leader Davinder
Sachdeva, has been appointed secretary of Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee by the acting president of the PPCC Mohinder Singh Kay Pee.

Wheat MSP hike flayed: The Indian Farmers Association has condemned the announcement made by the Union government to hike wheat MSP by Rs 20 per quintal. At a meeting held here on Monday, state president of the association Satnam Singh Behru said, “To express their resentment, they will distribute pamphlets highlighting anti-farmer stand of the Centre outside Parliament on the first day of the winter session of Parliament.” He said due to an “indifferent” attitude of the Union government towards their demands, a majority of farmers had stopped cultivating sugarcane.

Palmist stabbed to death: A local palmist, Pandit Mattu Ram (70), was stabbed to death by a miscreant here on Monday in broad daylight on the Goindwal road. The police has registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC against the accused, who has been identified as Kawaljit Singh of Kirrian village under Harike police station. The SSP, Sukhdev Singh Brar, who visited the spot soon after the incident, said the accused had lent some money to the victim. When he went to collect the amount from the palmist, the latter refused to give it to him.
