Amaltas resort closure sends wedding plans awry

The Punjab tourism ministry’s sudden decision to close down the Amaltas, a government owned tourist resort located outside the city, from November 15, has put at least 20 families who had booked the resort for weddings in a quandary.

Rs 40 crore to be spent on rail overbridge despite technical flaws

Displaying scant regard for public interest and technical norms to the winds, the Ludhiana municipal corporation is all set to send public funds of over Rs 40 crore down the drain in the name of the ambitious railway overbridge (ROB) that is to be constructed on the site of the old Lakkar Bridge.

It was the mobile phone he had used which proved to be his undoing. A grandson of elderly couple, from whose house jewellery and cash worth Rs 40 lakh was recently stolen, was allegedly behind the theft.

Five-year jail for six

The court of Additional Sessions Judge Kishore Kumar has convicted six persons of possessing fake currency worth Rs 3.7 lakh and sentenced them to five years of jail. They have also been ordered to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 each.

BVM girl wins bronze in Goa
Ludhiana, November 4
A student of BVM School brought laurels by winning bronze in the national tae kwon do championship held in Goa. Tamanna Sood, a student of class IV of BVM Udham Singh Nagar, won the bronze medal in the below 16 kg weight category. The tae kwon do championship was organised by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
