Upscale commercial complex set to go under hammer

After crossing many hurdles - both legal and administrative - right from conception to completion of construction, the Ludhiana Improvement Trust’s commercial complex at Maharani Jhansi Road is all set to be auctioned after getting the Punjab government’s nod. The 2.22 acre complex, built at a cost of Rs 16 crore, will be sold as a single unit at a reserve price of Rs 197 crore.

Irate residents protest demolition of encroachment

Demolition of an illegally built structure in Kirpal Nagar by ATP Kamaljeet Kaur drew a strong protest with agitated residents raising slogans and staging a ‘dharna’ outside the municipal corporation’s B-zone office today. According to information, Kamaljeet had razed the construction that was encroaching upon a land in L-shape here this morning following orders of municipal commissioner AK Sinha.

7 liquor vends fined for being open on ‘dry day’

The excise & taxation department today fined some of the city’s liquor vends that were found to be open on October 2, which was declared a ‘dry day’ on account of Gandhi Jayanti, while others were fined for irregularities in their billboards.

Residents go green to ward off pollution
