Despite state government’s tall claims of turning Patiala into an ultra-modern city, the city is yet to witness any major change as far as its infrastructure is concerned.

2 killed as mobike, tractor collide

Two youths died in a head-on-collision between a Bullet motorcycle and a tractor-trailer on Dera Bassi-Barwala road here this evening.
The deceased were identified as Charanjit Singh Baaji (25), a resident of Dera

5-year-old dies in accident

Five-year-old Gopal Sharma, a resident of Gharuan area, got killed in an accident this morning. The child was playing at roadside. He suddenly ran towards the main road and got run over by a speeding Tata-407 vehicle.

9 accused granted bail

The police today granted bail to all nine accused, including three women, who were arrested last night on charges of indulging in gambling.
Acting on a tip-off, the police had arrested the accused with stake money worth Rs 10.15
lakh.
Man held with ganja

The police yesterday arrested Shadi Lal of Sector 25 near a tubewell in his locality while allegedly carrying 270 gm ganja. A case under Section 20 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered.
