12-yr-old Ambala girl dies of swine flu

Swine flu has taken its first toll in the region with the death of Harshita, a 12-year-old student of Chaman Vatika Public School from Ambala. She was brought to Chandigarh in a critical condition on September 25 and admitted at Chaitanya Hospital.

2 killed as mobike, tractor collide

Two youths died in a head-on-collision between a Bullet motorcycle and a tractor-trailer on Dera Bassi-Barwala road here this evening. The deceased were identified as Charanjit Singh Baaji (25), a resident of Dera Bassi, and Manish Chandra (24), a resident of Natwal village in Barwala.

Three booked for brawl

9 accused granted bail

The police today granted bail to all nine accused, including three women, who were arrested last night on charges of indulging in gambling. Acting on a tip-off, the police had arrested the accused with stake money worth Rs 10.15 lakh.

Man held with ganja

The police yesterday arrested Shadi Lal of Sector 25 near a tubewell in his locality while allegedly carrying 270 gm ganja. A case under Section 20 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered.
