Jalandhar, September 17
Continuously embarrassed by hard-hitting reports in the media, PIMS may now heave a sigh of relief as the authorities now claim that functioning of the institute may take off before this year-end.

Clearance of shrubs, weeds and ambience generated by lights around the building can also be perceived as an indicator of this long-awaited beginning.

As per information, an agreement has been finalised between the PIMS and the NRI Academy. The agreement was finalised on August 27, according to which three months’ time has been specified as the transitional period during which the PIMS will completely hand over the charge to the academy to begin with services.

As per sources, higher authorities of the institute have also coming up with the idea to form a permanent steering committee for proper functioning of the institute in the long run. A five-member committee will be formed, which will include two officials representing the state government, two representatives of the PIMS society and one independent expert. This committee will oversee the day-to-day operational work of an institute.

On the others side, the NRI Academy, a private party in the agreement, which will possibly run the institute after November 27, is also planning to construct new residential and hostel buildings.

Though the plan comprises construction of buildings for dental college, nursing college, physiotherapy and pharmacy institute, submission of concrete details of plan will take a few more days. It is important to note that the NRI Academy will itself bear the cost of construction and infrastructure for these appendage institutions.
