MC fails to open tenders

The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has once again failed to bring transparency in the tender system as bids for 78 works worth Rs 2.8 crore, submitted on September 1 and 2 by contractors, are yet to be opened. The tenders were invited by the operations and maintenance (O&M) cell on August 14. According to the advertisement, the tenders were to be opened on September 1 and 2 at 3 pm. However, the Municipal Corporation had not been able to open the tenders even after two weeks.
310 fire cracker sites allotted

Only 310 fire cracker sites out of 511 were allotted by the administration after a draw of lots here today.
Since only 310 allottees applied for the sites, the rest could not be allotted.

LIC staff strike work

LIC employees observed a day-long strike today, demanding an early and satisfactory wage revision. The strike was called by the All-India Insurance Employees Association of class III and IV and the Federation of Class 1 Officers' Association.

Transformer fear still lurks

Roads turn death traps

The condition of almost all roads connecting the town with the surrounding 20 villages is pitiable. Water stagnation due to faulty drainage system is learnt to be the major reason behind frequent damage of roads.
