Rain leaves many areas inundated

The regular showers failed the drainage system today that left many city roads inundated. Various areas, including commercial area like Feroze Gandhi Market, were waterlogged, leaving commuters stranded and annoyed.The angry commuters said, "This market is one of the posh areas in the city and yet the civic body has failed to find a solution for ailing drainage system in this area.

Penalties of Rs 2.78 lakh imposed

More than 20 teams of supervisory officers and the field staff of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) conducted pre-dawn raids in different parts of the Focal Point division along Chandigarh Road on Sunday in the course of ongoing drive to check power theft. As many as 36 consumers were caught stealing power, using unauthorised load or committing other irregularities. Cumulative penalty of Rs 2.78 lakh has been imposed on the defaulting consumers.
