House gutted

Fire broke out in a house at Guru Amar Das Colony here this afternoon. It started in a room on the first floor and soon engulfed all the three rooms.Fire department officials said short circuit was likely the reason for the fire. Everything, including furniture, had been reduced to ashes. It took three fire engines to douse the flames in two hours.

One killed in accident

A man was killed yesterday when a mini bus, while overtaking another vehicle, rammed into a mini truck. The accident took place last afternoon on the national highway near Nanaksar when a speeding Jagraon bound mini bus, while overtaking another vehicle, came on the wrong side and hit a mini truck owned by a bread manufacturing company. —
