10 dyeing units lose power supply
Ludhiana, August 18
Complying with the orders of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), officials of the PSEB today disconnected power supply to 10 dyeing factories in the city for their failure to achieve stipulated norms for treatment of effluents.

ATM theft case solved; 3 nabbed

In a major success, the city police has nabbed the three accused in the ATM theft case, which took place here yesterday. The arrested men include the security guard of the ATM. An amount of Rs 7.31 lakh was found missing from the ATM machine at Rishi Nagar Block-Y yesterday.

Food Adulteration
8 samples taken
Ludhiana, August 18
With an aim to curtail adulteration in food products, a team of health officials today collected samples of eight food items from different villages. District health officer, Dr SS Dhir, food inspectors, Dr Harjot and Dr Avinand Khosla, collected the samples of paneer from Samrala on the Machiwara road and the samples of dal channa, tea, fruit drink and ladoos from Ramgarh village on the Chandigarh road.

Kidney patient needs financial help

Gulshan Kumar (23), diagnosed with HIV infection, CKD-5 and acute febrile illness, is fighting for his life at Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) here. A native of Raison village near Karnal, the boy is undergoing treatment at the CMCH and comes to the hospital for dialysis every week.

The Punjab National Bank (PNB) launched its global credit card in association with VISA, which was accepted at over 29 million merchant establishments and 1 million ATMs worldwide, which used VISA as a payment gateway.

State award in social services to Malerkotla don

An unidentified person stole a scooter of constable Dharampal from outside the Daba Chowki here this morning. The incident took place when Dharampal parked his scooter outside the chowki and went inside to register the details of some case. When he came out, he was shocked to see his scooter missing.

Man booked for suicide bid
Ludhiana, August 18
A man, who allegedly attempted suicide after consuming poison, was booked here today. Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Manjit Nagar near Bus Stand, who was recuperating in Suman Hospital, alleged that his wife’s distant relatives had usurped his property.
