Lion’s share of jobs for Rohtak
HJC, BSP cry foul over discrimination Sunit Dhawan Tribune News Service
Gurgaon, July 31 This was stated by local Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) leaders Rohtas Khatana and Begraj Yadav and BSP leader Vinod Nambardar at a joint news conference held here today. They also distributed a set of RTI applications and information provided by the state government in response to these. The HJC and BSP leaders asserted that as per the official data received through the RTI applications, Rohtak district had got the maximum amount of Rs 7751.63 lakh under the Haryana Rural Development Fund from April 1, 2005, to March 31, 2008. "Jhajjar got Rs 6528.46 lakh during the aforesaid period," the leaders said, adding that the share of Gurgaon district, which contributed the maximum revenue to the state exchequer, stood at a mere Rs 1233.89 lakh. Accusing the Chief Minister of having unduly favoured the residents of the Rohtak parliamentary constituency represented by his son Deepender Hooda, Yadav alleged that the former had discriminated against the other districts of the state. Citing more official figures, Khatana and Nambardar said not only in the matter of grant of funds, the state regime had also accorded preferential treatment to the residents of the Rohtak parliamentary constituency in giving government jobs. They said according to information obtained from various government agencies under the RTI Act, a large number of junior engineers (civil, electrical, mechanical and horticulture), contractual Class IV employees, tubewell operators, junior draughtsmen and other staff members appointed or engaged on a monthly basis belonged to Rohtak and Jhajjar districts. "A Chief Minister should not have a biased approach in the matter of allocation of development funds or the giving of jobs. However, it is unfortunate that the residents of other parts of the state except Rohtak and Jhajjar districts have been discriminated against," they maintained. They alleged that seeing the approaching elections to the state Assembly, the Congress regime in the state had started making “false” announcements. The local leaders lamented that Gurgaon had always been discriminated against by successive state governments. They said a joint campaign would soon be launched against the government. |
